JERSEY CITY, NJ – Nancy Caamaño, Executive Director of Hudson Pride Connections Center will be leaving the Center on October 31, 2011. Ms. Caamaño has served Hudson Pride in various roles since 2006, including Project Manager, Director of Programs, and most currently, as the Executive Director. She has contributed to the organization’s advocacy in the LGBT community and especially individuals impacted by HIV and AIDS.

Jersey City Pride parade and festival celebrates end of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy

Nearly 100 onlookers gathered at the steps of Jersey City City Hall yesterday morning for the start of the Hudson Pride LGBT Festival and Parade.

Organized by Hudson Pride Connections Center, this year’s theme was, “Do Ask, Do Tell,” as the event celebrated, in part, the repeal of the U.S. policy on homosexual, bisexual and transgender people serving in the military.

As she addressed the crowd from the steps of Jersey City’s City Hall, 280 Grove St., on Sunday morning during the 11th annual Hudson Pride LGBT Festival and 2nd annual Parade, NJ Stonewall Democrats president Barbra “Babs” Casbar Siperstein imparted some of her experiences of watching history be made in the LGBT community at the governmental level, and also urged attendees to get involved to affect change locally.

Jersey City writer and director Howard Richman said his play, “A Night at the Paradise Burlesque,” is a “cross between a burlesque drag show and a TV game show.”

Hudson Pride Festival and Parade Scheduled

Hudson Pride wants to ask. And they want to tell.

So with the end of “Don’t ask, don’t tell” in mind, the Hudson Pride will be hosting its 11th annual pride parade and festival October 9. The parade starts at 11 a.m.

The day begins with a parade route beginning at City Hall on Grove Street. The parade will lead the crowds to the festival at One Exchange Place, On the Waterfront, in Downtown Jersey City, NJ 07302 with the backdrop of the NYC Skyline.
