Elbis Santana (He/Him/His/They/El) is a Wellness Specialist at Hudson Pride Center (HPC). In his role, Elbis focuses on empowering individuals to take control of their health by offering free, confidential, rapid HIV testing. Once individuals know their HIV status, he connects them to vital services, including PrEP, nPEP, Doxy PEP, mental health support, and linkage to care for those newly diagnosed with HIV.
With over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Elbis has dedicated his career to serving underserved and vulnerable communities throughout the New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas. His extensive background includes roles such as community outreach worker, program manager, HIV case manager, PrEP/PEP specialist, and HIV pre- and post-test counselor.
Elbis has also worked internationally with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and John Snow Inc. in the Dominican Republic, serving as a program officer. In that role, he helped develop and implement HIV prevention programs, strengthen health systems, and support non-governmental organizations (NGOs) serving high-risk populations.
A passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ equality and other marginalized communities, Elbis brings deep compassion, cultural competence, and a strong sense of purpose to his role at HPC. His work is grounded in a commitment to equity, empowerment, and preventative care for those who need it most.
