Gelen Almonte (She/Her/Ella) is the Senior Wellness Specialist for Community Health Programs at Hudson Pride Center, where she leads the Wellness Specialist team and expands access to affirming healthcare for LGBTQ+ & HIV affected communities throughout Hudson County.
She provides direct support in engaging and overseeing the HIV prevention, testing, linkage to care, PrEP/PEP navigation, STI services, and other community health initiatives through a status-neutral approach. Gelen also supports program operations, grant reporting, and partnerships with healthcare providers and community organizations to strengthen equitable, client-centered care.

Gelen joined Hudson Pride Center in 2023 and has grown into her current role as Senior Wellness Specialist after serving as a PrEP Counselor and Wellness Specialist. She earned an Associate Degree in Psychology from LaGuardia Community College and co-leads Viviendo Los Colores, a Spanish-language support group for LGBTQ+ Latinx community members.

Outside of work, Gelen enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new adventures with her daughter, and unwinding with Harry Potter marathons and her favorite sweets.
